outside reading post #3

I just finished the book Three Cups Of Tea, I thought it was a great book and an unbelievable story of how this one guy without much help was able to build this small school in Pakistan for twelve thousand dollars. The person who did this is named Greg Mortenson, he tried to climb the infamous mountain K2 but failed and nearly freezes to death only barley escaping. Luckily for him he was saved by a small village in Pakistan called Korphe . He then vows to return and build them a school. It takes him nearly two years living is a small car do this after typing thousands of letters to famous people before anyone answered. Yet he does return to Pakistan even though it was nearly impossible for him to raise the money. After he builds this five room school in the mountains Greg continues to build more and more schools until he ends up building fifty five schools. Most of the book is about Greg meeting with different people in the region and recounting the events. Greg Mortenson also founds the Central Asia Institute, a organization that promotes education in Afghanistan and Pakistan. What  really hit home for me when reading this book is how virtually one guy was able to help these rural areas have schools and how he is convinced that the solution to the radicalism in the area is to give them educational opportunities and create jobs for the people in the area. I really thought that this book was great.
